From my experience the time from symptom onset to diagnosis is too long. It is common to take years and in many cases decades before a diagnosis is finally made. This has its tolls on those suffering in many ways. There is a big economic cost from personal monetary expenditure to costs to the health care system. This comes from the multitude of visits to the varied medical providers, the tests run and procedures attempted. There is a very high emotional cost of frustration and loss of hope and confidence that you can get better. This podcast discusses these issues.
